Dubai
From Transformation to Global Capital
I entered Dubai real estate at a defining moment in its transformation. I had a front-row seat as the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reshaped the city into an international destination for investment, business, tourism and living.
From the beginning, my work brought me into contact with investors from across Europe, the Middle East, Russia and beyond. Each approached property differently, shaped by their own markets, cultures and attitudes toward capital. Working closely with them gave me an early education that extended far beyond real estate.
One of the most important lessons came in 2007. At a time when confidence was extraordinarily high and buyers were still entering the market at premium prices, some of the most sophisticated investors I worked with began reducing their exposure and taking capital off the table. Watching those decisions before the market turned fundamentally changed the way I understood property investment.
It taught me that a successful acquisition is never simply about what you buy or how much it may appreciate. It is about understanding risk, diversification and timing—and knowing your exit strategy from the beginning.
Nearly two decades later, Dubai remains an important part of my work and a market I follow closely. What began as an ambitious transformation has matured into one of the world's most compelling destinations for international wealth. Its safety, connectivity, quality of life, business environment and exceptional standard of service continue to attract entrepreneurs, investors and families from around the world.
For me, Dubai is both familiar and constantly evolving. Having known the market through very different cycles gives me a perspective that cannot be gained from studying today's numbers alone. The opportunity today is different from the opportunity I first encountered—and understanding that difference is precisely what matters when advising a new generation of buyers.
